Curriculum • Basic stitches: o Hook-holding technique. o Chain stitch. o Single crochet. o Half-double crochet. o Double crochet. o Treble crochet. o Slip stitch and finishing off. • Increasing with various stitches. • Decreasing with various stitches. • Understanding stitch symbols, reading patterns, and making modifications. • How to search for patterns for any item. • Introduction to other crochet stitches. • Beanies/hats in various sizes. • Slippers/booties in various sizes. • Scarves in various sizes. • Doilies and covers (various types and sizes): o Dining and side table covers. o Bedspreads. • Details regarding various types of garments. • Pom-pom makers and their uses. • Rectangular looms and their uses. • Pricing finished work.
With Instructor Marwa Moussa A 2004 graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture, she has been working with crochet since 1998. She has appeared on the Nile Educational Channel’s program *Ara’ wa Shabab* (Opinions and Youth) to discuss handmade crafts and was featured in an episode of the *Dantelle* program on the Family and Child Channel. She has also participated in exhibitions at the Cairo Sports Club.
